The Duck Triangle

We are having an exciting Spring at the pond: THE DUCK TRIANGLE!

The Mallard ducks on the left are a "pair". The one on the right is the challanger. The female spends most of her time feeding; note the "bottoms-up."

Apparently the interloper got too close, so the duck in the water is making a "beeline" to chase him off.

The wishful male is certainly persistant and sure makes the other male duck keep on guard.

"I'm tired of this guy. I'm going to chase him off for good!"

"Oh boy, I really scared him this time! Maybe he'll stay away and my mate and I can have some peace and quiet."
